2 Europe fests to screen dozen Iran films

A dozen Iranian films have been selected to compete in two international festivals in Bulgaria and Switzerland.

Twelve Iranian films will compete for awards at the 10th Sofia MENAR Film Festival in Bulgaria as well as the "Black Movie" Geneva International Independent Film Festival in Switzerland.

‘A Special Day’ by Homayoun Asadian, ‘Negar’ by Rambod Javan, and ‘Season of Narges’ by Negar Azarbaijani are among the films to be screened in the main competition section of the 10th Sofia MENAR Film Festival, which opened in the Bulgarian capital on Friday.

‘Retouch’ by Kaveh Mazaheri, 'The Man Who Forgot to Breathe' by Saman Hosseinpour and ‘The Servant’ by Farnoush Abedi are among the films competing in the short film section of the festival, which will run until January 28.

Other films to be screened in the festival include ‘Boarding Pass’ by Mehdi Rahmani, ‘Immortality’ by Mehdi Fard-Qaderi and ‘Italy, Italy’ by Kaveh Sabbaghzadeh in the New Iranian Directors category.

Meanwhile, the "Black Movie" Geneva International Independent Film Festival will screen Iranian director Kazem Mollai’s drama ‘Kupal’.

The Black Movie festival will run in the Swiss city of Geneva from January 19 to 28.
